1.

Who can register as a Fish Frosh participant?

Registration is open to all incoming first year, transfer, and exchange students no matter their religion or beliefs.

2.

How do I register? What do I need to register?

There are two options:
1.
Online through the McGill Orientation Week website (
http://orientation.ssmu.mcgill.ca/events); stop by the Fish Frosh table at the McGill Y-Intersection from August 29th - September 2nd to pay the $30 registration fee (if you haven't done so yet) and pick up your t-shirt.

2.
In person at the Fish Frosh table at the Y-intersection from August 29th - September 2nd.

3.

Is Fish Frosh really just $30?

While other Froshes can require payment of more than $100, Fish Frosh's registration fee of $30 is really all that we ask a participant to pay (which guarantees him/her a Fish Frosh t-shirt and an insanely incredible time with fellow participants and their leaders)! However, some activities (i.e. the Field Trips), might require fees not included in the original $25 registration payment. It's best to carry with you a little bit of cash just in case.

6.

Can I still attend the "religious" events if I'm non-religious?

Yes! As displayed on the SCHEDULE, some events such as the Worship Night and the Workshops are focused on Christian content and faith-based themes. However, these are not exclusive only to religious participants. Non-religious participants are more than welcome to take part in these events and to try and learn new things; taking risks and stepping into new territory are definitely part of the university experience, after all!

5.

Who can apply to be a Fish Frosh leader or volunteer?

We encourage any person involved within the campus Christian groups to sign up as either a leader or volunteer to not only represent his/her ministry but to also take part in making this Fish Frosh an incredible university welcoming experience for the froshies!

7.

I'm new to Montreal and don't really know my way around the city. Will I be able to go to places outside of the McGill Bubble/Downtown area without becoming completely lost?

There's no 100 percent guarantee that someone won't get lost in the city (some people do have a weaker sense of direction than others), but we can definitely assure that every event requiring travel to places outside of the Downtown area will be led by leaders familiar with the destination or at least with means of contacting Fish Frosh coordinators in the (unlikely!) event that they do end up getting lost. Even if a froshie is unfamiliar with getting to places within the Downtown area (such as Roddick Gates or any of the churches at which an event might be held), group leaders have been instructed to give their phone numbers to their froshies so that froshies can message them if they would like to meet up at a familiar spot and walk together to the place in question. Going to an unfamiliar place during Fish Frosh should not be something to worry about because there will always be leaders, coordinators, and volunteers ready to help!

4.

Are drop-ins (people who join after the start of Fish Frosh) welcome?

Yes! We understand that some people might want to try other Froshes if the original Frosh for which they registered isn't the experience they want during orientation week, so we're more than happy to welcome those that might be interested in checking out Fish Frosh after the initial registration! However, please keep in mind that drop-ins will be required to pay a small fee for food events.
